First off, like I said before, most of these people look like complete freaks. You’re a fashion designer for godsakes, you should have some sense of what is fashionable. Or maybe they are just immune to dressing well because they design for others? If someone could fill me in on that, I’d be incredibly thankful.
Okay, they get to raid tents at Bryant Park full of glorious fabrics, $50,000 worth to be exact, to create their very own design. I wonder what happened to all the leftover fabric, especially the one that nutty Elisa decided to rub all over the grass because she loves her clothes to be natural and full of nature….. Yeah…
Everyone is in the workroom and the fabulous Tim Gunn walks in to mentor these fashion hopefuls and what does these ungrateful, badly dressed wenches do? TALK BACK. Seriously, people. Tim Gunn knows his shit, he’s trying to help YOU out. Show some fucking respect, man. You’re lucky he doesn’t make you bow down to him when he walks in to the room. Tim is awesome and these kids are getting ballsier with every season.

Prime example: Tim’s talking, Christian looks bored as hell and girl who looks like Kelis isn’t even paying attention.

She totally does look like Kelis. Next episode, Carmen will teach everyone how she brings all the boys to the yard.
Let’s get down to it, the runway. The judges seemed awfully nice the first episode. I was missing Michael Kors grating criticisms a la Santino’s figure skating dress, ‘It looks like a baboon’s aaaaass exploded all over it!’, but dude, didn’t get any of it. Not much of Nina’s pursed lips and wrinkled brow when she doesn’t like something either! What the hell is going on!? I did like Heidi’s, ‘She looks like she is poo-ing fabric’ though regarding Elisa’s design. haha
I’ll just talk about the people who stuck out in my head or this entry will be so long, you will hate me for it.
Jillian: I have a feeling all of her dresses are going to have flouncy, poofy skirts. She just seems like that type, kind of like how Angela was with those hideous rosettes.

Marion: I don’t even remember what his design was, to be honest. I just wanted to point out that I think he looks like Sharpay’s brother from High School Musical but with dark hair. Don’t worry about how I know that though.

Kevin: Don’t remember his design either but again, I would like to point out he looks like someone. Picture Danny Bonaduce with dark hair. Yup, that’s it.

Chris: You’re no Jay McCarroll. You’re dress wasn’t bad, pretty but the print kind of reminded me of wall tapestry or curtains or something. Also, leopard and lime green tie? Ew.

Ricky: Oh my. Those hats! They are like motorcycle, S&M kinda gross shit. Don’t wear them ever again. Your dress was simple but definitely nothing fabulous.

Steven: He’s from Chicago. Yay! I’m glad he didn’t make anything hideous. His design was sophisticated and classy.

Victorya: I really liked this dress. I thought it was very cute. Simple and the flower was a nice touch.

Christian: I think I don’t like this dude just because he looks like a moron and reminds me of this incredibly stupid hipster kid I know. Asymmetrical hair? REALLY? His design was okay though, I hated the colors though. He also needs to stop talking back to Tim Gunn!

Rami: I think we all knew his dress would be gorgeous. He’s already an established designer, it kind of surprised me they still put him on. He will go far in the competition if he doesn’t keep making the same dress over and over.

Elisa: She’s the nutty one, like the Angela of last season. I’m pretty sure she is staying because it’s too early to send home the crazy. We all need some entertainment anyway so they kept her. Here is her pooping dress:

Last but not least, the big loser of the day.
Simone: Dress was incredibly poorly made and just, all in all, ugly. See ya!

Final thoughts, I’m not too psyched on anyone yet. There don’t seem to be any Santinos or Jay who jumped out at me in previous seasons. I don’t really like any of the models either yet. They seem to be a little thicker than in previous seasons, or is it just me? Hopefully, next Wednesday will bring it.
This post isn’t as great as I would have liked it to be. I have a million things to do today but I needed to get something up so I can hear your thoughts on last night’s episode!
What do you all think of Season so far?
P.S. Thoughts on Top Model will come in a later post! I didn’t forget about that shit!

I claim Rami! Yum.
I’m going to save the rest of my thoughts for my recap. I have notes! Which unfortunately I left at home.
I think I want to slap Christian. He’s all talkin’ trash on everyone before they’ve done anything — hello there, low self-esteem. And I disliked his jacket. The seams lined up fine, but I thought the shape was meh. My favorite design was Victorya’s. I like her, Rami, Steven, Kevin and Carmen. Lingerie boy needs to step it up. And everyone needs to listen to Tim. I don’t care if that’s “what you were going for” — if Tim doesn’t like it, you’re probs going to go home.
Kind of hard to say after the first episode! But I like Christian and think a lot of the contestants are going to make for some great television this holiday season
ooh i’ve never watched this show…but thanks for the recap. i love the rami victorya and steven creations! and i totally watched high school musical and likeness is uncanny! hahaa
Wow.
If I end up being hooked on this show without even watching it, it’ll be because of you.
Can you believe they have the nerd to balk-talk TIM EFFING GUNN? Have some respect, people!
Rami’s dress was pretty but I thought it was kind of boring and made his model look stumpy. Gorgeous but stumpy. Plus, I have a feeling he’s just going to keep on draping his designs. I’d really like to see what he can do with something patterned or just more constructed. My favorite was Victorya’s.
I didn’t want to like Christian’s, but I loved that skirt. If that jacket weren’t hideous or if it were a different fabric or color, than maybe I’d like it more. Dude’s so annoying, though.
I can’t tell if anyone’s going to be good this season. I mean, if you have access to $50,000 worth of fabric and everyone creates stuff that’s just “okay”…I’m not going to lie, kind of underwhelming. [/longest comment comment ever]
Tiff - Rami is so yours.
Alissa - I’m so glad you agree about Christian. What a douche.
Julie - I really hope next episode has a little more. I was kinda disappointed with this as a first episode.
Libby - I’m so glad someone else sees it!
Rachel - It’s my favorite show. YOu should definitely start watching!
VG - No respect. Ugh. Who do they think they are?!
Monica - I totally agree about Rami. I hope he can design other stuff because the drapey stuff will get old quick. I was really expecting more from a first episode. You’re so right about $50,000 and just okay stuff.
Next episode better be amazing!
I loved Rami’s dress but agree that since he is an established designer that maybe he shouldn’t be on? I don’t get the criteria for that..hmm. I was sad to see Simone go, only cause I loved her name and found her likeable.
I always wonder how these people come up with their “fashions” and how they think they look good or will be popular. The hardly ever are. I’ve never seen this show, but it seems to be all anyone talks about so maybe I should check it out?
I think I’m the only one who didn’t really like Rami’s dress. I mean, I don’t think it was ugly but it’s just something I’ve seen a lot before. Anywhooo, I think I’m going for Steven this season. Still too early but I loved his design.
[...] like every other damn thing Rami has made. I’m pretty sure I called him out about doing that first episode. Unfortuately, that’s all he does. Plus, he argues with Tim and that is a big no [...]
