it never ends

January 15th, 2008 at 9:32 am . Posted in school, whiny things .

So school was definitely school. You know, all kinds of schooly and stuff. My math class shouldn’t be too bad. I have a great professor who seems like he will make the class as fun and interesting as math can be. Trust me, I need it. 5th graders have better math skills than I do. Psych will be psych. My teacher likes to talk and rambles on and on and waits until the very last second to let us go. It was really boring, but I’m sure I will do good. I then realized that my cute Harajuku Lovers tote would be no good for the 500 pounds of books I have to carry and was forced to make a run to Target for an ugly, huge backpack. I could take it camping if I wanted to, because that is exactly how much crap I need this semester. It was out with the cute and in with the navy blue backback. Ew.

After my 3 1/2 hour break, I went to my CNA class. The teacher seems alright, as do the other girls and ONE boy. One woman, who is in her 40s talks with a baby voice ALL THE TIME and I kind of want to throw things at her to make her shut her mouth. That class is going to be an insane amount of work. I got a stack of papers that I could bind and make a book out of. It was that big. I need to go get TB shots and a physical and all kinds of nonsense by the first week in February when I start clinicals. It would be great if I knew that more than two weeks in advance, because I kind of don’t have health insurance. I need to buy scrubs and ugly white nursing shoes and a watch with a second hand. I have a ton of stuff to do.

Then on top of it all, I get into a huge argument with my mother and I tell her exactly how selfish she is being. Of course, she tries to turn it all around and say that it’s my fault we haven’t talked in over 2 weeks and that she has been trying to talk to me all along about it. I don’t think so. Don’t try to turn this all around and make it seem like this is all my fault. Don’t lie to me and try to act like you’re the victim. YOU did this. Not me.

Right now I’m at work until 7:00PM, babies are napping. I’m about to pull out some math homework go through google reader because I’m so behind and hope today will be a better day. The last of the Vegas pictures will probably be up later tonight.

I need a nap.

This is why I have so much respect for my nursing major friends. I would’ve given up way before this.

Sorry about your mom. It’s going to be rough for awhile and it sucks… but hopefully things will start to level out for you guys soon. You have every right to feel upset. It sounds like your mom’s anger is TOTALLY misdirected.

OK, I have totally random thoughts on your post….

    1) Did you know Katherine Heigl has a line of scrubs? Seriously.

    2) I predict you will start wearing Crocs. ;) I’m totally kidding.

    3) This might make me dorky, but I had an LL Bean backpack in college that I loved. That sucker could carry anything.

Scrubs…I’ve always wanted a job that I wear scrubs to but not have to clean up anyone’s bodily fluids. They are just so comfy and would require no thought when getting dressed in the morning (I’m sure the fashion don’t aspect would kick in after a couple of weeks).

Hate when parents act like children and try to treat their adult kids like small kids. Hope things get better.

I’m sorry you had to sacrifice cute for functional. Maybe you can find something to make the functional one more your style.

Good luck getting all of your stuff done. I’m sorry your mom is adding to your stress. It sounds a little to me like she may be bipolar or just depressed.

I hope things get better. It was only the first day back, which is stressful in itself, so perhaps things will get easier once you’re back in the flow of things.

5th graders are smarter than me in math too. (side note- I Just spelled “too” “to” and luckily caught it before I submitted). Um, or I would have to say that 5th graders are also smarter than me in spelling. Damn it.

I hate when I try to be cute and realize that it’s totally not functional at all.

Try to take some time to do something for yourself/relax a bit!

Renee – It’s going to be so hard. I really hope I can stick it out. It will be worth it in the end though!

Lisa – If I ever mention Crocs, I want all my bloggy friends to come to Chicago and smack me. I’d deserve it!

Michelle – Scrubs are way comfy! Hopefully when I get a job as a nurse, we are required to wear cute colored scrubs. haha, I’m such a nerd.

Deutlich – haha thanks. Seriously, I feel like every time someone mentions something new my mom does, all I can do is roll my eyes. She’s ridiculous.

    Miriam – Thanks!

Um..Yum! – Things will definitely get easier in time. I do hope to find a cuter bag for school though. Mine was a cheap and big and it was all I needed for the rest of the day. I’ll have to browse around for something more me!

Queen Bee – Me too, my friend. Me too.

Susie – I’m pretty sure I do that all time, haha. I definitely need a me day. It’s coming!

Damsel – haha, it’s definitely out in the open. I don’t think much will happen because she told me she is looking for a place, so I “should be happy now”. I’m expecting more silence until she does move but she will definitely play the victim when she tells other what happend, I’m sure.

And and I totally want to smack that woman. Her voice is driving me insane!

The 40 year old with the baby voice might actually be my boss. I mean, if she could magically transport herself from Columbus to your class. Every time she talks, I want to rip off my ears!

And sorry you and your mom got into a fight. That really sucks. At least it got some stuff out into the open, right? Just stay strong hun, you are amazing.

I can’t handle other people’s blood and body parts. This is why I’d be an awful nurse.

Backpacks are no fun, but I’ve torn too many cute totes on 500 pound books. Save it!

I started a Photoshop refresher course at the local community arts center last night. It made me miss school so much. I know, you are sitting there going: “Sam, WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?”. But, I do! This class, which my company is paying for, has me excited about the prospects of graduate school. It also reminded me how PCs are pointless and Macs are amazing. Did you see the new mac?! (www.apple.com). Fucking slick!

    Love you!

Aw, sorry about your bad day – go nap with the kids! If you give into the urge to throw something at that women, toss your backpack (after removing breakables). You’ll get to vent on two things at once!

Here’s some good news about the scrubs: they come in more up-to-date cuts, as opposed to the you know, way above your bellybutton style. You can probably browse around the internet and check it out, but I do know they come in low-rise and flared! Try allheart.com

I can empathize with the ugly backpack thing. Mine’s green. But, it holds my 459874394 pound pathology book, which works out.

(And regarding your comment: yes, Pilot is very, very determined!)
