Last night Will and I went to the movies. I wanted to see both 27 Dresses and Cloverfield, but I figured I would be a good girlfriend and not force him to sit through a chick flick. Cloverfield, it was. Now, back in July, we went to see Transformers and there was this trailer that left everyone like “what just happened?!”. There was all kinds of hype and rumors and it seemed like it was going to be great. Well as you know, most things probably don’t live up to the hype.
Cloverfield = FAIL
About 20 minutes in, I thought I was going to have to leave because I was so motion sick. I think when you make a monster movie, you want it to seem realistic. This was not. Girls running around in heels the whole movie and absolutely no children or elderly people live in Manhattan apparently. Just little things that kind of left you like, SERIOUSLY?!
All in all, I should have went to see my girl, Izzy. 27 Dresses obviously FTW here, people.

I don’t really have much interest in seeing Cloverfield.. in all the previews I saw, there was this one dude who kept repeatedly screaming in the most obnoxious of ways & that just turned me off entirely. I can’t WAIT to see 27 dresses on Tuesday, though.
I can’t wait to see 27 dresses either! YAY
haha, I’m such a sucker for JJ Abrams (the director) I know I’m going to see Cloverfield. Thanks for warning me though - I’ll bring my dramamine.
I’ve heard it’s like watching Blair Witch. Talk about a movie that made me physically ill.
God, just thinking about the motion sick is making me feel terrible. I can’t go on any of this virtual animation/3D rides. Ugh. I’ll PASS on this movie. Sign me up for 27 Dresses though.
I’ve heard the shaky cam is really bad. Didn’t they figure out that didn’t work after Blair Witch?
I saw Ben Lyons from the Daily 10 interviewing some of the cast, and he mentioned that there must only be beautiful people living in New York.
I guess this means I should drag Nick to 27 Dresses this weekend. He’ll thank you for the advice, I’m sure.
I hate when you see trailers and they make the movie seem so awesome and great. And you’re all in suspense and then you go and see it and it’s a TOTAL let down. The Village was that for me. It took my opinion of M. Night dramatically.
I’m sorry it was so bad. And you missed out on 27 dresses! Ugh!
That sucks. I actually wanted to see that, but I was dying to see it or anything.
I heard it stunk. Thus I shall not be going to see it.
Oooh, good to know! I really want to see 27 Dresses
poor hubs. i totally said I’d go see Cloverfield with him tomorrow but now I have the perfect reason not to! (he’ll get over it cos the pats are on anyways). Thank you for sparring me those 2 hrs!!!
Last night, my roommates and I wanted to go see 27 Dresses, but it was all sold out for the ENTIRE NIGHT. I think basically every other girl in the county had the same idea as we did. So instead we went and saw Mad Money, which was seriously the biggest waste of $8 ever. EVER.
I thought Cloverfield looked awful from the previews. I can’t wait to see 27 dresses though! Yay for cheesy chick flicks.
27 Dresses was awesome! Loved every bit of it.
Darn. I was hoping I was going to hear good things about that movie, because I was almost ready to take my lazy butt to see it.
Thanks for the heads-up. Motion-sickness is bad enough on a rollercoaster. I don’t need it from my movies.
Great blog you have here. Really great. Not 100% sure how I got here, but I’m glad I did!
The only part I thought was good in cloverfield was when the statue of liberty’s head fell on the ground all torn up.
i didn’t want to seee it but went to watch it with my friend I haven’t seen in forever. I seriously started to regret sitting at the top. I got soo sick but didn’t think I would make it to the bathroom. ugh.
ha ha ah.
See, now, I saw Cloverfield, and I liked it. I mean, to be honest, once I saw what kind of “monster” it was, my expectations dropped. Was it the best movie of all time, hell no. It was horrible. But it wasn’t too bad either.
At least from what I could tell. I was looking through my fingers almost the entire time because of the motion sickness I was getting from the shitty ass camera angles.
-snickers-
:] Thanks for stopping by!
The boyfriend thought this movie was “amazing.” His cousin thought it was the worst movie ever and he felt like puking from the motion sickness.
I guess I can wait for the DVD then! I would rather see 27 dresses
Seriously, the girls running up flights of stairs in heels? Ridico. I definitely noticed that too. Living in NYC, I was also peeved by the jumbo, gorgeous, ridiculous apartment the party was in. Okay, I get that’s Hollywood’s version of New York but why cover the stairwell in graffiti? Like an apartment that gorgeous would exist in some shitty building. It’s cruel to insinuate otherwise.
Also, while my galpals enjoyed 27 Dresses, it made me embarrassed to be a girl. But I’m a cynic.
Ya this movie looks a little ridiculous, I can’t wait to see 27 dresses though
WASNT IT THE WORST EVER?!!!!!! AAAAAH!
AS and I went to a movie on Friday night and saw the notice saying “Cloverfield might cause motion sickness.”
I immediately was like, Yep, I’m never gonna see that one…
Okay, Jamie don’t hate me - I kinda liked Cloverfield.
It’s probably just my JJ Abrams bias, but I guess all over the Internet there are clues you are supposed to see about what was really happening, so my dorky_Internet friend told me, so we could figure out (like the Coney Island scenes, you could see the monster falling in the water…other wierd stuff). I liked how it was from one persons perspective and basically no one knew what was going on or what they were running from.
However, having said all that. THE CAMERA STUFF SUCKED. Basically if it was “real life” the people would’ve just dropped the camera and ran for their life.
But the shaky camera was so bad we had to get up and move to the back row. And not look at the screen a lot.
Oh, but by contrast, there was nothing to hate about 27 Dresses. It was totally cute.
i am SO glad you posted this because i was debating between those two movies just last night to go see sometime this week. and i get motion sickness watching people play xbox so i think i know which one i should pick
Tiff - I think that all the promotion and little stuff they are doing for Cloverfield is really cool! I’ve been sort of keeping up. Today I guess they left video from another camera on the site or something!
I think it was more about almost puking than anything though. The idea of the movie was cool.
Michelle - This is definitely not the movie for you then!
Thank you. My hubby and I saw Cloverfield last night and as we were walking out, I said “That was seriously, one of the top five worst movies I have ever paid to see.” He disagreed of course. But seriously? That was horrible! I too was motion sick and that made it hard to eat dinner. Ugh. Horrible.
I saw it this weekend with my fiance and although I actually rather liked the movie, I had to get up in the middle of the movie due to motion sickness.
Oh and the running in heels? Even more unbelievable than some reptilian creature attacking NYC. I mean, I can barely stand for half-an-hour in my heels, let alone tear up and down stairs.
Love the blog, by the by!
I’ve got no interest, honestly.
Just looks like they combined bad natural disaster movies with bad monster movies, with a touch of War of the Worlds. Boo to that.
Oh yeah, I just saw the preview for 27 Dresses today and I so want to see it! I mainly just want to know how she met 27 people who all wanted her to be a bridesmaid. I mean 27? That’s a lot of really good friends to have.
My coworker saw it and she actually puked after she left the theater. Ick.
I seriously refused to see this. Ugh.
