Is he rich like me?
If you know that song, you will be my best friend forever.
One of the perks of having a boyfriend who dj’s is: custom mixes. William makes mixes for me every other week or so. This past weekend, he made a particularly amazing one, that I have basically been listening to on repeat. My music taste is pretty all over the place. I was raised on classic rock (my parents were total hippies, my dad still is!), I love pop music, indie rock, hip hop, almost everything. He gave me a little taste of it all and still it managed to flow perfectly well. Seriously, can you imagine these songs, plus more, wrapped up perfectly into 30ish minutes?
- the title song, google that if you don’t know, then download it asap
- The Beatles – Hey Jude
- a Jets to Brazil song (my favorite one ever)
- Britney – Piece of me
- Nsync – Pop (yeah, that’s right)
- Earth Wind and Fire – Let’s Groove Tonight
- Snoop Dogg – Sensual Seduction
- She Loves Everybody – Chester French
Those last guys, Chester French, are my newest obsession. Go check them out. They are two Harvard grads that got picked up by Pharrell’s Star Track label.
I’m working on getting William to make a mix exclusively for my lovely readers, which I will upload and share. Should you want to want some new music, I urge you to leave an encouraging comment for the boy to get on it!

Aww man, I would LOVE to have a boyfriend who made mixed for me all the time! That would be amazing. And “Chester French” sounds like a really hot name. Like a preppy guy with attitude who will just grab you and make out with you when you least expect it. I hope I am right? I’m going to go check them out right now.

Man I wish I got new mixes all the time. Granted I can’t complain too much, I get a ton of free music from my coworkers, so just as good I suppose

I totally know that song! The first thing I thought, though, was “Who’s Your Daddy” by Toby Keith. Not quite.

It’s the time of the season where love runs high. In this time give it to me easy, and let me try with pleasured hands. Take you in the sun to promise land…
I LOVE Ben Taylor Band.

Annie – At least it is an awesome song in your head!
Lisa – Ben Taylor actually covered it. It’s originally by the Zombies

Time of the Season.
But don’t worry, I don’t expect the best friend clause to take affect right away.

Awe Jamie I was going to answer that. The Zombies! One of the many bands that the Beatles ripped off. They put out some great stuff. I used to spin records when I was in college for some extra dough. Twas fun.

The Zombies! I know I’m too late but I grew up on Classic Rock/Oldies too, as it was the only thing me and my parents could agree on!
Hey Boyfriend! Make us a mix tape! With some Chester French on it! And um, also, buy Jamie something pretty! kthxbai!

See, I think of the Zombies and I think “She’s Not There.”
This is what happens when your dad raises you on oldies. Now this stuff is gonna be in my head all day.

I LOVE that song. And I love that you know it. Sometimes I start singing it randomly and most of my friends don’t know it. My dad was huge on classic rock.

HA! This is the first time where knowing an oldie doesn’t make me feel like an old loser! That’s on my Ipod right now, and since I read this, it’s the song I’m listening to. Very cool tune, right?
And your little playlist there reflects a GREAT taste in music. I am such a shameless suckup, sorry. (but the playlist would be great, anyway!)

oh my God time of the season by the zombies, I looove that song. Last year when I worked at this shop I would bring my ipod that I would connect to the sound system. EVERYTIME this song came on a customer ALWAYS asked what song I was playing.
such a sexy song, especially the organ solo…only in the 60´s could you get away with an organ solo.

Whenever I hear that song, all I think of now is Blake Lewis from American Idol. He actually did a really amazing cover of it last season. Of course, nothing compares to the Zombies version!

I went to a Ringo Starr concert where he had Rod Argent performing with him. Rod’s voice was SHOT but when he sang that song everyone went crazy anyway.

are there seriously people who don’t know that song? that’s blasphemy as far as i’m concerned.
congrats on your win – that’s how i found you. i was intrigued by the concept of “likeability” – everyone i know despises me. which really couldn’t bother me less, since they’re all jerks anyway.

That song came into my mind this morning and I couldn’t shake it, so I had to google it to get all the words. Now that I remember the title, I’ll have to go see if I can download it from itunes. Nice to know there are other fans out there!
