makeup follow up

First off, thank you all so much for your input on my makeup help post. You ladies are fantastic and I’m not sure what my face would look like without you. I’m sure everyone is dying to know how my Sephora and Macy’s trip went, so I’m going to spill.

I hit up Macy’s first to check out the MAC counter since it was pretty evident that many of you all are MAC fans. I figured I would give it a go. I had a girl who basically didn’t care about anything help me. Note to everyone: MAC in Macy’s at Orland Square Mall sucks, well the people at least. Whatever, I got my shade of Studio Fix and left.

Next up? Sephora. I needed a new moisturizer and decided I needed a foundation primer. I read great things about Smashbox primer so I figured I’d try that out. Instead of the regular primer, I went with Photo Finish Color Correcting Foundation Primer in Color Adjust. It’s green and should help tone down the redness I have, as well as help the foundation stay put. I bought a tiny sample size of it because the big one was like $40 and I’ll be damned if I spend $40 on something that doesn’t work miracles. If it goes well, then I suppose I will buy it.

Then I needed a moisturizer. I had a really helpful girl (who had the most ridiculous fake eyelashes on) pick one out for me. She has skin like me that freaks out at just about anything, so she pointed me in the direction of Juice Beauty moisturizer. SPF 30, all organic, lots of antioxidants and all that great stuff.

Hopefully this stuff all works out well for me. I will keep you updated!

P.S. ANTM post coming later!

I’ll have to try the photofinish for the redness, too. Good tip! Also, how funny.. I worked at Macy’s in Orland Square and I’ve gotta say.. I totally agree with you about the makeup counter people. Never was really a fan..

ANTM post MUST include: “I think it’s time for another lesson on how to say my name.”

That primer is awesome! A very generous Sephora saleswoman gave me like 8 sample packets of the clear kind – love it. I’m eternally grateful to her – it lasts forever! I’m pretty sure she gave me at least $20 in samples.

Mmm, I’m really tempted to try that Smashbox primer in apricot. My under eye circles are unbelievable. Damn you, Jamie! haha.

MAC + Smashbox = Deutlich Love

Also? Studio Fix? Best damn make up I’ve ever used.

    True story.

I could’ve given that input yesterday – but like an idiot I forgot all the product names.

    I’m slick like that.

I have problems with redness and I love Benefit’s Get Even powder. You know when you have a runny nose, and your nose gets all red from blowing/wiping it? Well, this stuff covers that up. Some days when I don’t feel like dealing with a lot of makeup (but still want to be presentable), I just put on concealer, get even, and blush. I won’t use any other powder.

I can’t wait for you to report back and say how great everything is so I can justify going out and buying it right now!

Truth is I probably will either way.

That stuff looks great. I’m seriously not informed about makeup. I didn’t even know what some of that stuff was. Thanks so much. I’m going to look into this.

I’m anxious to hear how the green primer worked out! I think I could definetly use that!

I have sensitive skin, cetaphil moisturizer works best for me.

Just got to to read this—remember my trip to Sephora and the gay man who helped me and Marie? Oh it was hysterical in that store!! I will never try that cayenne pepper laced lip gloss plumper ever again. Notice how the “highend” makeup has extremely long product names???
