I deserve a little spanking.
No, not like that.
But I’ve been a bad, bad blogger.
Wonderful Jamie asked me to guest post for her on Thursday June 19 and I accepted.
Wait, that’s not the bad part.
The bad part is that I didn’t do it. The reasons why include something about my strep throat infection spreading into my jaw and repeated trips to Urgent Care, but let’s not discuss that because I Am Not Happy About It.
Instead, let’s discuss a homeless girl’s dream about the best blog meet up ever.
(If you’re interested in why I’m homeless, click here).
So, getting to the point.
The point is that I want to host a Blog Bash. A huge f*cking crazy awesome blog bash. I know they have BlogCon and all those formal thingies, which I’m sure are pretty neat and dandy.
(Who says neat and dandy?)
But I want to have a blogger party weekend. Maybe one where everyone who can come stays in a hotel for a weekend and I plan an itinerary of stuff and then everyone just attends the stuff that interests them. Or maybe one where we go on a cruise (not likely, I know, but wouldn’t that be incredible? Bloggie cruise 08!). I don’t know, I just want to do something. It would be amazing if that something was on New Year’s Eve, but I’ll settle for any random weekend.
Now I’d like some feedback. What could we feasibly do? Where could we realistically do it? Would anyone actually come? Suggestions, ideas, anything that could contribute to the Best Blog Bash of All Time.
Yes, that’s what I’d call it.

I don’t care as long as it means I have a drinking competition with Chris from Surviving Myself.
I think it;s a good idea, as long as it’s something inexpensive. (I know a lot ofus, including myself are living on a budget.)
Ben- Um, DEFINITELY.
Jen- Agreed, I’m on a pretty tight budget too. But what would be inexpensive?
I think going out to a bar and getting loaded is an excellent Blog Bash! Entry would be free and everyone can spend as much booze money as they want! And who doesn’t love getting wasted? No one! Can we say, flip cup? Thanks.
DUDETTE! I LOVE THIS IDEA!
Not to yell in caps. But seriously!
And I am so, so, so down.
I’d also be down to do it on New Year’s because that gives enough time to save money. Plus, I’ll just have turned 27. HA!
Uhm.. regarding inexpensive.. I think that varies amongst everyone. If a lot of us need to fly, then New Year’s isn’t such a good time (stupid arilines hiking prices).
Mayhaps in October? When weather isn’t super cold yet, and airline tickets aren’t super harsh?
We both live on opposite ends of the country and I’ve got no good suggestions for where to host it — but I’d go anywhere, especially if I haven’t been there before.
[...] of hosting the Best and Awesomest (yes, awesomest) Blog Bash Ever. More details can be found here. Please give me any and all [...]
Arielle- I love the bar idea, especially because most bars will do something awesome for a special event. But the question is… which bar? More like: which state/city haha!
Deutlich- Spectacular. October would be pretty perfect, because it’s not an overly expensive travel month. But… where would we go? And how many people would actually come? I only want to do this if it’s AMAZING aka really, really well attended.
This is fantastic. Let’s do it. I suggest drinking and maybe running around like idiots.
Also let’s make it in Los Angeles and only cool people. If you’re not cool, just get out. Who will be the coolness judge?
Yours truly.
I gladly accept the position.
Oh a BloggyBash would be the bomb (who says “the bomb” anymore, is the real question?)… anyway- not sure what could be done that could constitute as inexpensive. Camping out? Ew, I don’t like bugs. Umm…. a big webcam party? Lame-o. I’m down for something, but clearly the ideas aren’t going to come from me.
That’s a very good point. I recommend emailing Lisa from 20SB, since she can mass email everyone and get a poll started, perhaps? I’m sure there are plenty of free websites that you can use for polling purposes and maybe go from there?
Did someone say drinking?
Color me in.
I’dz come for the party. In New York…….haha
well first of all, are you okay?!?! urgent care, strep, yikes!
and i totally agree about a bloggie meetup, it would be awesome
I. Am. In.
UHM YES.
whatever it is, wherever it is. i want in.
because i love my blogfriends, and because i want to drink ben and chris under the table.
cause i could.
i only know a couple of y’all, but i am also raring. especially if i can go in on the drinking contest with chris, in which motherfucker will go DOWN.
I would love, love, love a blog cruise!
I say we do a poll of major metro areas and the pick from the place that gets the most votes.
I am in eitherway.
Hope you get that blogger party you’re after.
Ok, so I’m totally new to your blog so not to pretend like I’m invited to the bash or anything but that’s a very cool idea. I wish I could go to BlogHer in San Fran next month
I’m totally into that idea.
You’d have to pick a location and if we’re gonna meet up at a bar, I’d kinda like to do something else low-cost as well. Just my $0.02.
1) I’ll drink you and Ben under the table.
2) new years is not a good idea, most people will be wanting to hang out with people they, uh, know on that night.
3) I want this to happen very badly. A great idea!
4) so yes, I’m telling you I want to help you do this, if you’re serious about really making it happen. I want to help! Email me!
5) like deutlich said, we should get a poll going and take it from there.
6) email me and let’s get started!!!
I sooo want to go to blogger meet up!!!! Definitely!
i’m with chris… I WANT TO HELP! when i was pondering this idea in my head, i kept thinking if we picked somewhere central… somewhere in the middle of us all so we all had to travel a little. i don’t know. or, vegas. because really. i really, really want this to happen, BAD. regardless, i’m still coming out to cali soon. i’ll get a hotel, and you won’t be homeless for a few days! weeeee!
Lets make it happen! I think it would have to be somewhere generally central… and somewhere not too expensive, but with enough stuff to do. But if we’re making our own activities why don’t we have it in some moderately sized city where 1) booze is cheap and 2) so are the hotels.
but YES! Email me if you need help with anything. i don’t do anything @ my real job so it’d be nice to have something to help plan. LOL
a nicole hosted blog party? count me in! lets have it in some random small town so they’ll think we’re celebrities and we can hire paparazzi to pretend like we’re getting filmed for an E! True Hollywood story
WOMAN! I would go!
TOTALLY! It has been so long since something sounded like such a fantastic idea that I actually bounced up and down in my seat! As for where, I say we meet in the middle, someplace fantastic. Tell Damsel to bring the tequila
where it is? I will be there with bells on. And a case of wine. Possibly some margarita mix. And maybe a fiancé in tow…we’ll see about that
I dunno what we could do but I would love to come.
Will this be while your still out in Cali, then?
We def need games to help people connect and get to know each other. It would be fun if we could have like information about our blogs tapped to us or something and have to have others guess what blog you’re from
I’m such a nerd. OOOoooo, we have to do it now!
Guuuurrrrl you know I’d be there, no matter where it is. I’ll make it.
AHHH! I love all of these positive responses. I’m starting to figure out how to plan this TOMORROW.
You are all fucking amazing.
xoxo
A good idea might be to choose a city that’s sort of central and/or a hub airport (like Denver, Las Vegas, or Atlanta) to make travel a compromise for everyone. It would also be fun to come up with a daytime activity to make the trip about more than booze. In my head, I can imagine a ski weekend (though I don’t actually, um, ski), a trip to Disneyland or another theme park, or some kind of beach activity all being fun depending on the location and the season. Also a potluck. I love those things.
If I lived nearer I would be up for this in a heartbeat - unfortunately unless you all come to the UK i’m screwed. I like the theme park idea though, if I COULD go.
That does sound like fun!
I’m totally in, this is an excellent idea! I’ll host people in Wisconsin because I know you’re all dying to visit the ashtray of the midwest.
