the Brangelina of pet adoption

June 22nd, 2008 at 4:34 pm . Posted in puppies .

I have one of my own. No, unfortunately, not my own Ben, but my own Calvin! With that said, introducing my newest addition to the Lovely clan.

My cousin had him, but moved and could no longer keep him. He may only be here temporarily or maybe if we fall in love (which will be hard not to!), permanently. Edie and him are the best of friends and wrestle their little hearts out. He’s her shadow. Mr. Wiener Dog’s right eye is half blue and half brown too!

He was given the unfortunate name of Smokey McLovin. Seriously? No dog of mine will be named that nonsense. Too much fierceness for that reject name. We are still thinking of a good one. Any suggestions are welcome!

More pictures, thoughts on guest bloggers and Florida recap to come. I’m still recuperating from vacation but had to share this adorable little acquisition of mine. Be on the look out for one last guest blog tomorrow from my BFF!

* Jenn totally came up with that title, btw.

Aww, he’s pretty cute! I’d fall in love with him in two minutes flat! That’s adorable that he and Edie are already friends, I think it’s an omen that you ought to keep him! :P

I’m rather bad at thinking up names though, unfortunately, but Harrison sprung to mind, for some reason. :P

How adorable!! I’ve always wanted to name a boy dog Charlie for some reason.. lol. But I can’t wait to hear what you decide on.. and yes his given name is very unfortunate.. lol

OMG, he is adorable. You are such a good soul to take him in. I am not very creative today, but blogosphere never disappoints in original naming.

Glad you had fun in FL!

Oh it’s so nice to come here and see a post from you. You realize you’re addicted to dogs right? We might have to find a program for you.

With that said, he’s really cute. I like McLovin haha! Reminds me of Super Bad.

    P.S. Yay you’re home!!!

You realize puppies can be an addiction right? A cute, fun although expensive addiction! He’s adorable and I’d like to recommend the name Harley.

So cute! We got our dog because my cousin couldn’t have dogs at their place either. He’s a min pin, so same coloring and size but a bit more compact. My grandma gave him a super cutesy name that I would never name a dog but it stuck and here we are referring to our tough dog by this ridiculous name. What can ya do?

Can’t wait to hear about your trip!

I had one almost exactly like that once. I kept trying to clean the fur until I realized it wasn’t black. They’re cute dogs :)

I too had a dachshund and because I moved into an apt. that had “no pet policy” had to let a friend “borrow” him until…my friend now is his master and I could not and would not separate the two even for my own selfish reasons. His name is Knucklehead but he is called Knuck. How do you think that sounds when you are yelling for him, I have such a sick sense of humor. I will one day have another on they are just as stubborn as I am

My roommate’s now-ex-girlfriend tried to give me the chihuahua my evil roommate just acquired. Not going to happen, but I love the little guy anyway. I’m so jealous that you have a fabulous dachshund! I love them to pieces.

Very cute pup! I have a horrible habit of giving people/pets nicknames…Along the same lines of McLoving, you could call him Mc-L (which kinda sounds like Miguel..hehe) So Miguel it is! How funny would it be to have a cute dog named Miguel anyways? :-) Good Luck with the name selection!!

    He;s adorable.

I have missed having a dog since my Golden died when I was a junior in high school.
I keep hoping one day I have a schedule that will allow me to have a dog again.

Oh man. SO so so cute. Miss Roommate and myself are actually looking into getting a Doxie/Wiener Dog later on this year. So um….if you cannot keep him? I know two fabulous wimmens who would take him off your hands. :)

I’m new to your blog, but I’d like to make a suggestion if I may.

    How about calling him Longfellow?

    It’s all poetic and stuff.

    And also, he’s long.

OMG I love the Miguel suggestion. Then he can be Spanish!! Dogs with accents are the best!

Do I now have to explain that the newf and I take turns narrating Calvin’s life? Sometimes with accents to depict his lineage? No? Okay…I’ll move on.

im a new reader, and i must say you are lucky to have found a doxie in your home.

i share my house with woody
who has the kind of personality only a dachshund could have.

make sure you watch his weight to avoid back problems in his future. oh, and be prepared for bunny hunting and excessive kissing;)

ps i enjoy your blog thoroughly
