I returned some products full of FAIL to heaven AKA Sephora and since they have an awesome return policy, I now have $61.99 to spend!

So tell me, lovelies, what should I spend my new found money on? A new fragrance? Some luxurious bath products? Stuff to make my hair look even more amazing?

Suggestions and comments are definitely welcome!

etsy adore: infusion

Friday
Apr 18,2008

I’m currently working on paying off three trips, one to Florida in June, one to San Francisco for BlogHer and now Las Vegas in October. I really need to pick up a part time job, as in I might bite the bullet and do retail again.

Living the Good Life and working as a part time nanny doesn’t go hand in hand. How do I deal with this?

Shopping, obviously.

But seriously, I’ve been looking for an every day bag to use for work and and just running around. I mean, really, I can wear my MJ out, he doesn’t deserve that. I also wanted an bag that goes across the body. I decided Etsy would be the perfect spot to look considering my new found obsession with it. So I searched and searched until I came across this lovely little shop.

Infusion
Here you will find a fine infusion of organic and natural fibers such as hemp, linen, cotton, silk, wool, buckwheat and kapok. We appreciate materials the body can relate to. We hope you enjoy too.

I ordered this bag on Tuesday and got it on Thursday.  It’s perfect from the size down to the little details make the bag so much better. Abby was super sweet and even threw in this little tiny pillow filled with herbs. It smells amazing!

Definitely go give Infusion a look. There are all kinds of wonderful bags, pillows and more.

Etsy finds may be a new thing around here. I’ve found so many awesome shops on Etsy so I think it would be kind of cool to put them up every now and then. I’ve already ordered from 5 shops in the past week! Also, no one is paying me or giving me stuff to do this. I just thought it would be fun.

home on a Saturday night

It’s snowing like mad outside. I’m stuck at home pretend shopping aka lusting over beautiful things I currently do not have money for. The boy will be djing some random bro frat boy yuppie bar that I refuse to go to, because it is full of douchebags. I’m writing out Christmas cards and watching The Devil Wears Prada for the 37,000th time.

Hey, want to see some dresses I bought for Las Vegas? Of course you do.

Unfortunately, I’m not as leggy and thin, but they will work out quite nicely. Especially, with my ridiculously sexy Chinese Laundry peep toes, as well as the two pairs of shoes I bought earlier this week. A girl’s gotta have options!

I well overdue for a hair cut. I will most likely be getting one this week, if I can gather up the strength to watch them butcher my lovely locks. I want to thank the wonderful Tia for her opinion and tips on a cut. She’s quite the fabulous hair stylist, if you didn’t know.

Also, since Damsel and Nicole were making me look bad, posting all their 100 Things in one sitting, I had to finish mine up!

Oh and last call if you want a Christmas card from me. jamie @ ohhowlovely . net (minus the spaces, duh)

______

Santa,

Please bring me: YSL or Prada sunglasses, Louboutin satin pumps or a Miu Miu Small Bow Tote.

I’ve been a very good girl.

Making up for my fashion faux pas

Monday
Dec 10,2007

I had to redeem myself to the fashion world after that last post. I’m incredibly disappointed in myself. I’m glad some of you understand my reasoning! Purely functional, definitely not for aesthetic purposes. I have been in desperate need for some black pumps, especially for my own Las Vegas vacation, but I could simply not decide. Round toe, pointy toe? Patent leather? Regular leather? So many choices.

Thanks to Macy’s (still not a fan of Macy’s, give me my Marshall Field’s back!) and their buy one, get one 50%, off sale along with free shipping, I decided on the best of both worlds. TWO pairs of shoes.

The pointy toe pumps I really wanted were sold out, so I got these instead. They will suffice until I have the cash to indulge myself a little more.

I will write a real post soon. Promise. Enough of my shopping addiction for now…well, at least until something else fabulous comes along!

More like rainsnowsleetslush go away. It’s another gloomy day here in Chicago. I was trapped in my house last night. My driveway was a sheet of ice, there was no way I would have made it out without sliding into my house or something equally as bad.

I’m really hoping to get all my Christmas shopping done soon. I pretty much know what I am getting everyone so it should be pretty easy. There is only one person who I am unsure of, but I know I’ll figure it out! My methods of shopping are kind of ridiculous. It’s more of a “one for you, one for me” kind of thing, because I ALWAYS seem to find something that I just needwantomgjusthavetohave. I can safely say, I have yet to buy myself something! I’m waiting until after I get my presents done and then I can do shopping for Las Vegas.

Speaking of Las Vegas, I was talking to my sister and said what if I win a bunch of money? How awesome would that be? Totally won’t happen, because I doubt I will be hitting the gambling hard! It’s just fun to imagine what you would do if you won a couple grand or something. I was like hmmm, Miu Miu bag ($1200), Louis Vuitton speedy ($600), Marc Jacobs bag ($500) and then taking everyone out on me!

Plain silliness, I tell you.

That’s exactly what happens when you send a girl with expensive taste and a handbag fetish to Vegas!

The days of black

Friday
Nov 23,2007

Seriously, people. Black Wednesday. Black Friday. Black Monday. What the hell is with that? I don’t remember ALL of those days being referred to as Black ___day. Of course, today, I get. When did Wednesday and the coming Monday start being called that too? I think it’s only this year I have heard of that.

I am, fortunately, spending today at home, laying in bed with my laptop and not plowing through other shoppers ready to shank someone for the last Sex and the City box set. Trust me, if I were up for the Black Friday insanity, I would shank you for that last Sex and the City box set. $99.00 for that. Dude. Seriously, consider yourself shanked, but I honestly do not have the patience for the lines and the rude people and cranky retail workers.

How do I know they are cranky?

Because I use to be one of those cranky retail workers! I’ve done my share of working retail and hopefully I will never have to do it again. When I was in high school, I worked at a Target. Back at 17, I didn’t have the love and appreciation for Target that I do now. I can’t go into that place without spending minimum of $100! I think it’s like rule that you have to buy at least one thing that you don’t need when you go there. Or in my case 12 things you ‘need’, but in all actuality, you don’t…even though you totally do. I also worked at the GAP flagship on Michigan Avenue for a few months, that was awesome because of the discount. Until, I got fed up with the management and just stopped going right before Christmas. I definitely don’t recommend doing that.

Then a few years ago, I worked at Toys R Us. They were like, ‘Oh Jamie, we love you so much we are sending you to work in the video game section!’ right around November. Obviously, they didn’t really like me or they wouldn’t have sent me to work in HELL just in time for Christmas season. For some reason at Toys R Us, they called it Green Friday, instead of Black Friday. This was probably because you had people practically throwing money at you, begging for that last XBOX. I had people scream until they were blue in the face because we were out of the special edition Halo game. Because duh, they were SPECIAL so obviously the regular edition was just not good enough and I should have saved one for them, even though I don’t know who they are or that they were coming to buy some stupid game. It was a rough day. I ended up doing the closing shift on Green Friday, which sucked because we were open until Midnight and THEN we had to clean up the chaos from the whole day, so I didn’t get out until at least 2AM.

Hopefully, I will never have to work retail again. It’s just not my thing, but working it taught me a lot. I can guarantee you that I will never go in to a store and throw a fit if they are out of what I want. I will say ‘please’ and be polite. I will definitely say ‘thanks’ when they help me out.

You never know what kind of day it has been and a little appreciation means a lot.

Wish Lists

Saturday
Nov 17,2007

Since I am home feeling sick, when I should be out with my boyfriend, and there is no one to talk to on AIM, since they are all out enjoying their Saturday, I am making a wish list.

Things I Really Want (but most likely will not get anytime soon)

1. Miu Miu bow bag. Could this bag be anymore gorgeous? No, it couldn’t. I’m sorry, Louis, I may have found a new love.

2. Frye boots - Tiff posted these last week and I fell in love. I kind of need them in my life.

3. A ring. I want a ring, it’s the only piece of nice jewelry I am lacking. I am loving these right now: a, b, c, d, e. I especially love the last one. Simple and pretty with a little bit of sparkle.

4. Lanvin boots. I have been lusting over these boots for months. Damn the $860.00 price tag.

5. Marc by Marc Jacobs Turnlock Wallet. Duh, I need a matching Stone wallet for my Stone Faridah bag.

6. Coat. I already have a coat, 2 actually, but I reallyreallyreally love this one.

7. Wristlet/clutch. I need a smaller bag for when I don’t want to lug around my big Marc. Something with some pop would be nice, like this Rose color. Or maybe a maroony/burgundy though, I need to look around.

Entertain me people! It’s 9:15 on a Saturday and I’m bored as hell.

What is on your wish list?

books, books and more books

Wednesday

Yesterday, my boyfriend and I went to Old Navy to get him another warmer coat because, well you have to have variety, duh, and Old Navy was having 40% off on all outerwear sale. I was soooo close to buy a super cute grey wool coat. That would have been ridiculous because I have a perfectly good Triple 5 Soul parka I bought last year and a brand new Reaction wool coat that is gorgeous. Do I really neeeed a new grey wool coat? No. Did I want it? Yes.

Oh, shopping, you will be the end of me.

Thank you for all the book suggestions yesterday! You guys are great! In return, I want to share some of my favorite books with you.

Geek Love - Katharine Dunn (I will recommend this book forever and ever)

Invisible Monsters - Chuck Palahniuk (some people love him, some hate him. I love this book)

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time - Mark Haddon

Me Talk Pretty One Day - David Sedaris

The Nanny Diaries - Emma Mclaughlin and Nicola Kraus (I love the book, hated the movie!)

A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius - Dave Eggers

The Handmaid’s Tale - Margaret Atwood

The Secret Life of Bees - Sue Monk Kidd

Those are just some of my recommendations I throw out when people ask.

Agree? Disagree? Love them? Hate them?

Love at first sight

I’m working like 37 million hours this week so I decided to treat myself to something nice. At first I was thinking an iPhone, but I already have a Blackberry Pearl. The Pearl is a really nice phone but since the iPhone came out, I’m feeling kind of out of date. Yeah, I know, I’m completely ridiculous. I like being on top of my shit though, man, so whatever! Anyway, I decided that my using my Pearl, isn’t like living in the technological Stone Age and I need to just shut up.

But…but…that $400 can go a long way, especially if you’ve been thinking about a nice bag.

I love handbags. A lot. I’m also very picky so it takes me forever to decide what I want. My first designer handbag was a Marc Jacobs by Marc Jacobs Totally Turnlock Faridah. It’s a gorgeous color, roomy and just the perfect everyday bag. I’ve been contemplating my next handbag for awhile. Yes, it takes me forever to decide but I know it’s right once I get it.

Currently, I am loving the Dr. Q Groovee in Chocolate. Do I really want a brown handbag though? I kind of wanted my next one to be in black. Oooh! But wait…Barney’s has it exclusively in black!

And then there is Louis Vuitton. I’ve never been a fan of the Louis Vuitton monogram. Never been a fan of print all over a bag…period. Then sometime last year, I came across the Damier Azur line, specifically the Speedy 25. I have never wanted a bag so bad. The color is great, nice and clean looking. It’s perfect.

So do I get the black bag I’ve been wanting? Since winter is coming up, it would be nice to have a darker handbag. Or do I get the bag I’ve wanted for the longest time? LV is classic. It will never go out of style.

Well, my dear blog, in a 2 weeks, maybe 3, I will be taking a stroll down the Magnificent Mile, into Louis Vuitton, throwing down a ridiculous amount of money and walking out with a gorgeous handbag.

Love it.
