This week’s feature and giveaway is from Sassy Apron. No, these aren’t your gramma’s aprons either! Check out this brief interview with Lana and then enter the fabulous and sassy giveaway!

Tell us a little about you and your shop, Lana!
I started my shop about 2 years ago because I wanted something that would give me more independence and allow me to express my creativity and the love of sewing.
I’ve been sewing since I was a little girl, my dolls had the most fashionable clothes in the neighborhood :)

Of all things to make, why your sassy aprons? Why, not clothes?
We all have a memory in mind of our grandmother, mother or someone we love wearing an apron. My grandmother lived on a farm and always had one on, it was a tradition for her. When my mom put on an apron, that meant serious cooking taking place in the kitchen.
I got my first apron when I was 4, my mom made it for me. I still have it, but it doesn’t fit me anymore. For me, aprons are not just a piece of clothing, or a collectible, they create sweet memories. They will be my daughter’s vintage same day.

I called my store ‘Sassy Apron’ because these aprons are not my gramma’s aprons. They represent my generation. They are made for sassy women that – want it all and do it all – and don’t mind having fun in the kitchen too!

When I discovered Amy Butler’s fabrics, I was so excited; they are so pretty. I have more than 50 different prints in my ‘fabric library’ right now, it’s hard to choose just one.

Cooking or baking? What’s your favorite thing to make?
I learned to cook so I can  bake homemade cookies. I call them meal finishers, although they replace a whole meal quite often :)

Lastly, what is your favorite item in your shop?
The Gothic Rose print in blue is probably my favorite.

  • Today I’d have to say my favorite is Pin Up Polka Dot Sassy Housewife Apron.
    My favorites can change daily. Today it is cool and overcast with a sky of grayish clouds. I’d like some nice blue back, but the cooler weather is a relief. The Pin Up Polka Dot has the blue I need today. Really, I like all the Aprons, and I am so glad they are making a remarkable comeback.

  • How to choose just one! If I had gone to the site without seeing the cupcake one, I would have picked the cupcake one first, because of my small cupcake problem and all. I love the ones especially that look like the fabric is a vintage print :Morning glory, Cherry Sweet , Star Paisley, Floral Burst & Wall flower … are some of my top picks. The adjustable ones you can buy today are all the same — too big around and with the waist in the wrong place. I have long hair and I am always tying it into the cords. This apron is the best of both worlds as far as I can tell. I am waiting to see if I win one otherwise I will have to get one anyway! ;)

    I am in love with this Sky blue-Tree Peony apron. It combines both my love of polka dots and peonies in blue . As much as I love the many cute aprons,
