This week’s giveaway and feature is a special one! This week is the first birthday of my personal blog! so I decided it was only right to celebrate and giveaway away LOTS of stuff.

This week’s feature and giveaway will be from Kerry Beary! Kerry makes also sorts of retro inspired prints. Her shop is very colorful and so much fun. Let’s find out a little more about Kerry Beary!
Tell us a little about you and your blog.
My name is Kerry Beary and I have been living and working as a professional artist for over six years here in my home studio in Baton Rouge Louisiana. My bog is still in the planning stages (www.kerrybeary.blogspot.com) and I plan to focus on my work, my house and all of the fabulous things in it, as well as my travels and four dogs!
From the look of your shop it seems you are pretty big on the retro look. Why is that?
My love of modern art, fashion, design and architecture is the reason why my work has landed where it has. I love the colors, lines, forms, etc. of the period and to have the ability to express that passion in my work is such a blast! The time (40’s through the mid 60’s) was a tremendous period of growth, invention and innovation one cannot help but to be inspired!
I’ve read that Gocco is a dying art, it’s sad because such pretty things come from it. How did you get into doing Gocco?
Gocco is dying and it is tragic! From what I understand, once the supplies are gone, so is the art! I just love it and only discovered it this past year because I have been looking for a way to get back into printmaking (I love screen printing and linoleum block printing). The Print Gocco is so easy to use and takes up so little space. There are endless possibilities with the Gocco and it is just downright bitchin! I plan to purchase as much of the supplies as I can find and hope that some manufacturer down the road sees the potential in the Gocco system to start producing it again
Lastly, what is your favorite item in your shop?
I would have to say that my Cool Cosmic Cat Coasters are my current fav. I had so much fun making them using my Print Gocco of course! They can be found at www.kerrybeary.etsy.com

While I absolutely adore the sassy simplicity of the Atomicat Black Cat print, my favorite piece would have to be the Blue Hoos.
